A recent transatlantic collaboration between Kenny Inglis (one half of Cinephile) and Los Angeles based songwriter Neil Ormandy has just landed a spot on the brand new Sarah Michelle Gellar drama Ringer.

The song 'Always Find Me Here' is produced and co-written by Kenny, and features in a prominent scene at the end of episode 5 of the debut series. Episode 5 will air on the CW Network in the U.S. on October 11th.

Those of you who have dropped us a line to ask when the next Cinephile release is due will be pleased to know that their new single is out next Monday. Yes....next Monday !

The two-track digital single release features the haunting title track 'Snakes / Ladders' plusa bass heavy workout in the form of 'Pressure Point'. As with every new Cinephile release, you can expect plenty of sonic gymnastics.

It's all change here at Antimatter. We are currently going through a little spring cleaning phase....you know, tidying things up, making a few plans for the summer ahead.

There have been a few changes within the roster, some of which were expected, some of which weren't. Independent labels usually sign their artists into some kind of deal for long term benefit but given our 'spirit of common ambiton' ethos such contractural shackles don't make much sense.

Antimatter is a non-profit artist owned and operated outfit so it's particularly disappointing when we put our time and effort into a fellow artist or band only for them to go and jump ship. However, it's also a natural distillation process for us as a label in so much that we know we know we are closer to working with people who have similar focus.

So, as we look towards the summer you can expect a few interesting developments here. New artists, new releases, a couple of interesting collaborations that are taking form, and of course the return of our long overdue live events.

Change is good. Change is also progress. Or, as Robert C Gallagher more memorably put it "Change is inevitable - except from a vending machine....". Lets embrace that.

The new Cinephile single 'Masquerade' is now available.

The limited edition CD single (750 units only) features two tracks - 'Masquerade' & 'Paradise Lost (Instrumental)'. The CD release features individual artwork and each edition is hand numbered and signed by the band.

The single is also available as a digital download in various formats. So whether it's mp3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, or more you are after, you can find it all in the Antimatter shop.

2011 already....? Wow. Happy New Year to one and all !

2010 was a good year here at Antimatter. We welcomed a new artist or two into our home and released a number of new records that we're proud of. Can 2011 be as good....?

Sure it can. And what better way to kick things off than a brand new release from Cinephile ? The first release since their retrospective 'Ten' album, Cinephile bring us the two track single 'Masquerade' on February 28th. The single will be available digitally and in ultra-limited CD format.

What else can you expect from Antimatter in 2011 ? Well, asides plenty of great new music releases we will also be involved in a number of interesting one off events which feature our artists and artists from other labels we like.

So, instead of struggling with that endless list of New Year resolutions, just stick with one - keep your eyes on us....

We're pleased to announce that recent Antimatter signing The Recovery Club will feature as the live session guests next week on Vic Galloway's BBC Radio One show.

Asides fronting one of the very best BBC radio shows north of the border for a number of years, Vic Galloway is also a respected tastemaker with a keen ear for bands on the up.

The Recovery Club can be heard in session at 00:00 hours next Thursday (September 23rd) on BBC Radio One if you are in Scotland. National and International listeners will be able to tune in via the iPlayer link when it is available.

With their debut single sold out this is not to be missed. A band burning a slow rise to the top, and deservedly so....

A decade is a long time. Musically speaking it's a bit like the human age equivalent of a ten year old dog. In band years though, a decade is a far longer time....

It's been ten years since Cinephile wrote their debut track 'Being Human'. And with the band currently hard at work in the studio putting the finishing touches to a brand new full length album, what better time to take a retrospective look at their music over the past ten years ?

On October 10th 2010 we will release 'Ten', a compilation album featuring ten of the best Cinephile tracks from the last decade. This release draws a line under their material up until this point, making way for a stunning new album previously unheard tracks due at the end of the year.

We're pleased to announce a rather special addition to the Antimatter roster in the form of London based Lazy Lion.

It is difficult to describe Lazy Lion's sound. Take hip-hop, grime, or rap and tear up the rules, then stick the all three in a blender. It isn't so difficult to describe quite how good this band are - Lazy Lion just bubble with talent.

The band released their "L.L" EP back in December 2009 and are now hard at work on their debut LP. Their recent live gigs have impressed and distressed in equal measure.

Definitely a band to watch....stay tuned !

Tonight sees the return of our new concept night Musicbox at The Universal, Sauchiehall Lane, Glasgow.

Musicbox is an eclectic evening with the focus firmly fixed on audio/visual collaboration. We have four bands playing live on the night, each are whom are accompanied by the work of a different photographer.

Each photographer has had a month to soak up the music and shoot a sequence of photos as a visual representation of that band's sound, which will be projected live on the night. Four bands, four photographers. Good isn't it ?

Often haunting, sometimes quirky, yet always memorable, their 'twisted torchlight' songs hold a special something for everyone. The band release their debut single 'Rest and Be Thankful' right here on July 5th.

You might remember we debuted a brand new audio/visual event back in May called Musicbox. Initially intended to be a one off, it was so successful that we've decided to do it all again. Musicbox returns to The Universal on June 3rd.

Remember the concept ? We've got 4 cutting edge bands playing on the night. Add to that 4 photographers, each of whom have been assigned to a band and had a month to shoot their visual interpretation of that band's sound.

On the night each band will play their set accompanied by the live projections of their assigned photographer. Think of it like a static film. A haunting picture storybook.

Cinephile's 'Better Said' will feature in tonight's episode of CSI: NY ('Unusual Suspects') at 10pm in the US on CBS.

The previously unavailable track was released as a special edition digital download on May 3rd in advance of tonight's broadcast. The two track single also features 'Undone' and is available in a variety of digital formats via the shop.

Cinephile's 'Better Said' has just been licensed for use in the forthcoming CSI: New York episode 'Unusual Suspects''Tales From The Undercard' (series 6, episode 20) which airs in the United States on May 5th (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS network.

The band are currently hard at work in the studio on their new album, which is due for release Autumn 2010.

On Monday 10th May we will be releasing the debut album 'All Is Vanity' from Edinburgh based producer Lamplighter.

Lamplighter (aka Robin Legge) is the most recent signing to Antimatter. His unique hip hop driven electronic is both haunting and memorable in equal measure. Lamplighter's recent appearance at our Musicbox concept night back in May was widely considered to be the best performance of the night, proving his live talents equally impressive.

To celebrate the release of 'All Is Vanity' we are holding an album launch at Glasgow's La Cheetah club on Queen Street. Lamplighter will be playing live on the night, with supporting performances from Cheer and Noma.

The launch night starts at 9pm, with the first live act on at 9:30pm. Tickets are £3 and available on the door.

Tickets are priced at a very reasonable £3.00 in advance and on the door. That's 4 live performances featuring the work of 4 photographers for around the price of a pint.

We've got a history of running collaborative/co-operative music events with the emphasis on the unusual. Our last outing was a while ago, back with the second instalment of Genre Is A Dirty Word at Glasgow's G12 in May 2009.

These kind of events are notoriously difficult/expensive to put together, hence the lack of regularity. That said, time is a healer, and we've had plenty of that to recharge and make some new plans for 2010....

Our next live event is Musicbox, which takes place in The Universal in Glasgow on Thursday 4th March. Musicbox is a new audio/visual night with a bit of a twist. There are 4 bands on the bill....and 4 photographers.

Each photographer is pre-assigned to a band with the task of shooting their own unique visual interpretation of that band's sound. On the actual night, each photographer will project their work as a sequence of visual projections to accompany their band's live performance.

The concept might be interesting, but the line up is truly eclectic. Playing live on the opening night we have none other than The Recovery Club, Engine7, Paul McLinden, and Lamplighter. Meanwhile, joining us from behind their viewfinders are the photographic talents of Kat McDonald, Gavin Inglis, Gingiber, and Retrogoth.

It's looking like it'll be a great night so we hope you can make it along. Door times and ticket info to follow.....

As you will undoubtedly be aware, Haiti was struck by a massive earthquake on Tuesday this week. The disaster has brought death and massive destruction to what is the poorest country in the western hemisphere.

Current estimates suggest that the death toll could be as high as 100,000 yet the number of those affected in the aftermath of the earthquake may run into the millions.

Whilst we know it's only a small gesture in respect of the scale of the disaster, we've decided to give all proceeds from both our physical and digital sales for the month of January to the Haiti appeal via the Disaster Emergency Committee. Please do whatever you can to help.

The year has kicked off quickly for us. Fully expecting the world not to properly wake up until next Monday, we were delighted to receive the masters for the forthcoming Yuko Shiina release 'Walking With Ghosts' in amongst the post this morning.

Yuko's original demo was stunning, but we never thought the finished results would be just quite as good as this....

'Walking With Ghosts' will be released on February 22nd.

As 2009 exhales it's final breaths and a shiny new decade creeps upon us it is time for an update and the final anti-blog post of the year.

Firstly, welcome to the long overdue new website. We've been up and running officially for a few years now so the original website was starting to show it's age. We've still got some bits and pieces to do but everything should be a little smoother and less clunky. Feel free to explore....

Next, we're pleased to announce two new signings to the Antimatter roster. Joining us from the far east is Tokyo based experimental artist Yuko Shiina. Yuko is the first international signing to the label and will be releasing her beautiful debut with us on February 22nd. To read more about Yuko, please check out her profile.

Another addition to the Antimatter roster is London based alternative outfit One Black Sunday. Whilst we don't want to give too much away we can tell you that the producers behind this new pseudonym have been at the forefront of the UK music scene for almost 20 years now. We are both privileged and excited to be involved with this new project and look forward to the first release. More on OBS here.
