MySpace is dead, right ? The once pioneering networking site that threw open it's arms to this generation of new music has now become a black hole where real talent is swallowed by endless spam and flashing GIFs ? Wrong.
Sure, in terms of emerging artists it may be down, but it is most definitely not out - stumbling across Lamplighter one Sunday afternoon is testament to that.... Lamplighter (aka Robin Legge) is an Edinburgh based musician/producer with a production style firmly rooted in the hip-hop aesthetic. His lush hooks and undertones are embellished with choice sampling and multi layered drum programming. The resulting sound is both deep, and memorable....yet seemingly effortless. Whilst he cites a broad spectrum of peers that include the likes of John Carpenter, Prince Paul, Chris Clark and Arovane, one thing for sure - Lamplighter makes his very own unique blend of hip-hop and electronica. With his debut album 'All Is Vanity' due for release soon, Lamplighter is already hard at work in his studio on the follow up. We for one, can't wait.
